Tie the silk scarf to the handle first

Hong Kong in October is not cold enough for a large scarf. Fashion week has already moved the silk square: worn as a top, tied at the waist, or wrapped on a bag handle on the street in Paris. Each way depends on how cold it is.
Out in the daytime, one square on the handle is enough. Nothing extra sits on the neck, and you do not untie it in an air-conditioned mall. A plain colour is safer than a loud print, because the outfit often already has a check or a pattern.
When it turns cooler, move it to the neck, knot in front, one side short and one side long. Save the big scarf for the colder weeks. Tied at the waist it still looks right, and it loosens when you sit down to eat in a crowd, so keep that for a seat.
Takeaway
- Not cold enough yet: scarf on the handle
- When it turns cooler: around the neck, knot in front
- A big scarf: wait until it is colder
